Simcoe County Parrot Club

Who are we?

In 2005, a small group of local Barrie birds and their pet people came together informally for the first time to socialize, talk, and play.  Such fun was had by all that our little get-togethers became a monthly routine, and our little group grew and grew.   Many members of our group were also members of the York Region Parrot Club (YRPC).  So, in 2008, we decided to formalize our group into an organized sister club to the YRPC with the intention of servicing those of us who perch in Simcoe County.

The Purpose of this Not For Profit club is to provide a forum for entertainment, education, sharing and general commiseration with like-minded "Parrot People".  We meet on the last Monday of every month, from 7:30 to 10pm, and enjoy talks by special guest speakers, theme nights, opportunities to pick up that little "something special" from guest vendors, social and educational outings, and a fun night out with our feathered friends.

Our Members and guests are encouraged to bring their healthy birds to our monthly gatherings and social events.  The club also takes part in several special events throughout the year.  Members and their birds are invited to participate in these special events, such as the All About Pets Show.  The club attends these events for the purpose of heightening public awareness of the unique needs of pet parrots, thereby improving the quality of life for these very intelligent creatures.

As a "sister" club to the YRPC, our members also enjoy the benefit of automatic membership in the YRPC, with all the benefits and privileges that come along with that membership.  The YRPC is a well establish parrot club that services the York Region area.  They hold their monthly gatherings on the third Tuesday of each month In Oak Ridges.  This partnership enables members from both clubs to attend 2 monthly get-togethers if desired and an opportunity to mingle and socialize with a much larger base of fellow parrot fanciers.  The YRPC also produces a wonderful and informative monthy publication called the Gazette.  As members of the SCPC, we are privileged to recieve this publication as well.
